The Kodiak Historical Society is the only organization dedicated to the full breadth of Kodiak’s rich and unique history. We care for the oldest building in Alaska, the only structure used by both the Russian-American Company and the Alaska Commercial company, the two businesses that ran Alaska for over 150 years. We care for over 3,000 objects and over 45,000 photographs and documents related to Kodiak’s history. Through our exhibits, programs and events, we share Kodiak’s history with residents and visitors. All this is made possible by support from donors like you!
Your donation to the Kodiak Historical Society supports the active preservation of our local cultural heritage. Your support is a strong indicator of the value you place in the work the Kodiak Historical Society is doing and the long-term benefits future residents and visitors will enjoy.
Membership dues help us create programs and events, manage our collections, and preserve our historic building.
Membership at the Baranov Museum is an opportunity to experience the best of our programs, events and exhibits year-round. All members receive free admission to the museum, 2 admission guest passes, a subscription to our quarterly newsletter and our bimonthly e-newsletter, invitations to special events and voting privileges at the Kodiak Historical Society annual meeting.
Members who donate at the $500 level or higher receive a listing on our Partner’s Plaque for the year they donated, permanently affixed in a prominent location in front of the museum, along Center Avenue.
