Applications Available for the 2017 Summer Film Intensive

Applications are now being taken for our 2017 Summer Film Intensive, being held August 7th-16th. This award-winning program offers young people a chance to learn audio & video techniques as well as learning a bit of their own history. You may download the  2017 application or stop by the museum and get one.  This rigorous 10-day course, a collaboration between the Baranov Museum and AKTeach, will give middle and high school students the opportunity to create documentary films about how they and their…

Join us Saturday, June 24th at 10:30am for a reading of Deb Vanasse's Under Alaska's Midnight Sun. We'll talk about our summertime fun, make a collage of favorite summer pastimes  and have a snack.  Bring a stuffed animal friend too. For children ages 2-5 and their parents. Arts & Crafts – Net-Covered Mason Jars

We will practice a common Kodiak fisherperson's task, knot-tying, but rather than net-mending, we will use Mason jars. Held on the Porch at the Baranov Museum on drop in anytime between 11:00am & 2:30pm on Saturday July 8th. Mason jars will be provided, and you are welcomed to bring your own if you like.
