History Speaks! Determining the Floral Diversity of the Kodiak Archipelago

April 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Stacy Studebaker, naturalist, botanist, author, and environmental educator will present a talk on how she documented Kodiak’s Plant life across the archipelago. The program shows the collection process and Stacy’s botanical work over the last 30 years with emphasis on her ten years working as the volunteer field botanist on the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge.

Using historical and modern records held in the various herbaria around he world, around 680 species of vascular plants have been documented on the Kodiak Archipelago. Every summer, the list grows with new discoveries all of which are held in the Museum of the North Herbarium at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks.

Join us in the Main Gallery of the museum for this interesting talk on Stacy’s work.
